Migrating from PayPal to Stripe

We’ve been improving how payments and invoicing work inside Studio Ninja, and we’re now recommending customers move from PayPal to our Stripe integration.

While our PayPal integration is still available for existing customers, new Studio Ninja accounts will no longer have access to PayPal integration.

This change allows us to continue improving payments and invoicing in a way that better supports modern wedding and portrait businesses.

This isn’t because PayPal is “bad.”

It’s because Stripe gives us the flexibility and reliability to deliver a better experience for you — and your clients.

Why We’re Recommending Stripe

At Studio Ninja, our goal is simple:

Make it as easy and painless as possible for you to make money doing what you do best.

Stripe helps us do that.

Here’s what that looks like in practice:

✅ Get Paid Faster

Stripe offers more reliable payment processing and higher payment success rates, with smart retries for failed payments.

Fewer failed transactions = fewer awkward follow-up emails.

✅ Automatic Payment Syncing

Payments and refunds are automatically synced between Studio Ninja and Stripe.

  • No manual reconciliation.

  • No wondering if the invoice has been paid.

  • No double-handling refunds.

✅ More Ways to Get Paid (Without Workarounds)

Stripe unlocks more flexibility, including:

  • Passing on surcharges where applicable

  • Accepting tips on invoices

  • Multiple payment methods (cards, digital wallets, Apple Pay, Google Pay, etc.)

  • Buy Now, Pay Later options

These features are designed to increase conversion and reduce friction at booking.

✅ Built for Growth (Sole Traders & Teams)

Whether you're:

  • A solo photographer

  • A wedding venue

  • A makeup artist

  • A celebrant

  • A DJ

  • A multi-shooter studio

  • Or running a team of associates

Stripe provides:

  • Better reporting visibility

  • Cleaner reconciliation for bookkeepers

  • Reliable automation for deposits and progress payments

  • A scalable foundation as your business grows

Addressing Common Concerns

We know that switching payment providers can feel like a big move. Here are a few common concerns we hear:

“What about the fees?”

Stripe’s fees are competitive and standard across the industry.

For many businesses, the benefits outweigh the cost:

  • Fewer failed payments

  • Faster deposits

  • Less admin time

  • Higher conversion due to smoother checkout

Time saved and improved cashflow often make a meaningful difference — especially during busy wedding seasons.

“Will it feel too transactional for my brand?”

Stripe is designed to be seamless and professional.

Your clients:

  • Expect secure, modern online payment options

  • Appreciate convenience

  • Value simplicity

You still control your branding, your messaging, and your client experience. Stripe simply handles the payment layer.

“I’m used to PayPal. Why change?”

We’re continuing to build new invoicing and payment features on top of Stripe.

Stripe gives us the foundation to:

  • Improve automation

  • Reduce limitations

  • Deliver new payment features without workarounds

  • Increase reliability across the platform

To keep innovating, we need a payment infrastructure that supports long-term growth — for both Studio Ninja and your business.

Why We’re Doing This

The wedding and portrait industry has evolved.

Clients expect:

  • Instant deposits

  • Flexible payment options

  • Professional checkout experiences

Businesses need:

  • Cleaner reporting

  • Reliable automation

  • Less chasing

  • Fewer manual steps

Moving to Stripe aligns with our mission:

  • Less admin.

  • Fewer failed payments.

  • More control.

  • More ways to get paid.

How to Switch from PayPal to Stripe

Migrating is simple:

  1. Go to Settings → Payment Settings in Studio Ninja.

  2. Click Connect with Stripe.

  3. Complete the Stripe onboarding process, including ID verification.

    • Stripe is required to verify your identity to comply with financial regulations.

    • This may include confirming your business details, bank account information, and uploading ID.

  4. Once approved, confirm your Stripe account is connected inside Studio Ninja.

  5. Send a test invoice and complete a test payment to ensure everything is working as expected.

  6. Disable PayPal (if currently active).

Your future invoices will now use Stripe automatically.

If you need help at any stage, our support team is here to assist.

The Bottom Line

Stripe isn’t just a payment processor inside Studio Ninja. It’s the infrastructure that allows us to keep improving invoicing, automation, and payment flexibility — without limitations.

If you’re ready for:

  • Faster payments

  • Less admin

  • More flexibility

  • A future-proof setup

Stripe is the next step.
